REM Sensor Offline

If a sensor that was previously reporting data is now showing as offline, this guide will help you check signal strength, confirm Cloud Connector connectivity, and reposition hardware to restore communication.

To view Remote Monitoring data, you must have the "View REM" permission. For more information on different role permissions visit Edit Role Permissions.

Improve Wireless Connection

Try repositioning the hardware to improve signal strength: 

  1. Move the Cloud Connector closer to the sensor
    • If moving the Cloud Connector improves signal for some sensors but causes others to drop offline, you may need an additional Cloud Connector to maintain full coverage. Contact your Ecolab FSS representative for support.
  2. If the Cloud Connector can't be moved, reposition the sensor within the equipment to bring it closer
  3. After repositioning, check the sensor's signal strength again in the app. If signal improves and the sensor comes back online, you're all set! If not, continue to Check Cloud Connector Connectivity

  1. From the Menu, tap Remote Monitoring
  2. Search for and select the Cloud Connector
  3. Use the graph to view historical signal strength graph
    • Tap the date range in the corner to expand or narrow results
    • Tap and drag your finger along the graph to view signal levels over time
  4. If signal is consistently above 20%, the issue likely isn’t cellular signal–submit a support ticket.
  5. If signal is often below 20% or drops to 0–10%, try relocating it closer to an exterior wall or window to improve cellular signal
    • Wait 30-60 minutes and check for improved sensor signal
    • If signal improves and all sensors reconnect, no further action is needed.
    • If relocation causes other sensors to drop offline, you may need a second Cloud Connector to maintain full coverage. Contact your Ecolab FSS representative for support.
