Understanding who owns a Food List determines who can see it, edit it, and where it applies.
To manage food lists, you must have the "Manage Food Lists" permission. For more information on different role permissions visit Edit Role Permissions.
Food Lists in Ecolab KitchenIQ are owned at one of two levels: Organization or Location. Ownership is set at the time a food list is created and affects visibility, editing rights, and location assignment.
Organization Food Lists

Organization Food Lists are created by users with org-level roles. They are:
- Visible to all org-level users across the organization
- Can be assigned to one or more locations
- Location Managers can view an org-owned food list assigned to them, but cannot edit it or add food items to it
- The Locations tab is visible on org-owned food lists for org-level users, showing which locations the list is assigned to
Local (Location) Food Lists

Local Food Lists are created by Location Managers with the "Manage Food Lists" permission. They are:
- Only visible to users at that specific location and to org-level users
- Cannot be assigned to other locations
- The Locations tab is not visible on local food lists
- Location Managers have full edit access to their own local food lists
Duplicating Across Ownership Levels

When a Location Manager duplicates an Organization Food List:
- The duplicate is created as a local food list at their location
- All food items and temperature ranges are copied over
- The Location Manager gains full edit access to the new copy
- The original org-owned list is not affected
This allows Location Managers to use an org-level food list as a starting point and customize it for their specific needs.
