Your central hub for viewing, searching, and managing all of your Food Lists!
To manage food lists, you must have the "Manage Food Lists" permission. For more information on different role permissions visit Edit Role Permissions.
Navigate to the Food Lists Page
- Navigate to the Ecolab KitchenIQ™ website
- Click on Food Lists in the left side menu

The Food Lists table displays all of your food lists with the following columns:
- Food List Title - The name of the food list
- # of Food Items - How many food items are in the list
- # of Locations - How many locations the food list is assigned to
- Last Modified - The date the food list was last updated
- Owner - Whether the food list is owned by the Organization or a Location
The table is paginated. You can adjust how many food lists are shown per page: 25, 50, 100, 250, or 500
Sort & Filter the Table
- Sort your Food Lists by:
- A to Z
- Z to A
- Newest to Oldest
- Oldest to Newest
- Filter your Food Lists by:
- Owner (Organization or Location)
- Last Modified (7, 14, 30, 60, or 120 Days)
Create a Food List

Tap the Create Food List button in the top right corner to get started
- This button is only visible if you have the "Manage Food Lists" permission
- For step-by-step instructions, see Create a Food List (Iink)
- If no food lists exist yet, you will see an empty state with a prompt to create your first food list
Navigate to Food Items
- From the Food Lists page, tap on a food list to open it
- You will land on the Food Items tab by default

The Food Items table displays the following columns:
- Food Item Name - The name of the food item
- Cold Holding Compliant - The compliant threshold
- Hot Holding Compliant - The compliant threshold
- Last Modified - The date the food item was last updated
The table is paginated. You can adjust how many food items are shown per page: 25, 50, 100, 250, or 500
Sort & Filter the Table
- Sort your Food Items by:
- A to Z
- Z to A
- Newest to Oldest
- Oldest to Newest
- Filter your Food Items by:
- Last Modified (7, 14, 30, 60, or 120 Days)
Tap on any food item row to open it in the side sheet, where you can view or edit its name, temperature unit, and temperature ranges.
Create a Food Item

What is a Compliant Temperature Range?

The Compliant range is the acceptable temperature window for safely holding a food item. This is the baseline standard your operation must meet.
- Hot Holding - The compliant minimum defaults to 140°F. Any temperature below this is non-compliant
- Cold Holding - The compliant maximum defaults to 41°F. Any temperature above this is non-compliant
- At least one compliant value is required for every food item

When only a compliant range is set, the temperature gauge displays two zones:
- Green - within the compliant range (safe)
- Red - outside the compliant range (non-compliant)
Temperature ranges are configured when you create or edit a food item. See Create a Food Item (link) for step-by-step instructions on adding ranges during creation
What is a Preferred Temperature Range?
- The Preferred range is an optional, narrower window within the compliant range. It represents the ideal target temperature for holding a food item - not just safe, but optimal.

When a preferred range is added, the gauge updates to three zones:
- Green - within the compliant range (ideal)
- Yellow - within the compliant range but outside preferred (acceptable but not ideal)
- Red - outside the compliant range (non-compliant)

Preferred ranges help your team aim higher than the minimum standard:
- Compliant only tells your team "don't go below this" or "don't go above this"
- Compliant + Preferred tells your team "here's the minimum, but here's where we want to be"

This is especially useful for:
- Training new team members on ideal holding temperatures
- Encouraging proactive temperature management before food drifts toward non-compliance
- Distinguishing between "technically safe" and "operationally excellent"
