Add food items to your Food List and define the temperature ranges that keep your operation compliant!
To create a food item, you must have the "Manage Food Lists" permission and edit access to the food list. For more information on different role permissions visit Edit Role Permissions.
If you are a Location Manager viewing an Organization-owned Food List, the Create Food button will not be visible. You can only add food items to your own local food lists. For more details, see Food Lists: Organization vs. Location Ownership.

- Add Temperature Ranges
- Every food item requires at least one temperature range. You can add Hot Holding, Cold Holding, or both:
Add a Hot Holding Range:
- Tap + Add Range under Hot Holding to add a hot holding temperature range
-
The temperature gauge shows red for temperatures below the compliant minimum and green for temperatures above
- The gauge adjusts in real time as you enter temperatures
-
At least one compliant value is required
- The compliant minimum temperature defaults to 140°F
- Use the Remove button to remove the hot holding range if needed
Add a Cold Holding Range:
- Tap + Add Range under Cold Holding to add a cold holding temperature range
-
The temperature gauge shows red for temperatures above the compliant maximum and green for temperatures below
- The gauge adjusts in real time as you enter temperatures
-
At least one compliant value is required
- The compliant maximum temperature defaults to 41°F

Add a Preferred Range (Optional)
After adding a compliant range, you can optionally define a Preferred temperature range within it
-
When a preferred range is added, the gauge updates:
- Green = Preferred (ideal)
- Yellow = Compliant but not preferred
- Red = Non-compliant
- Preferred ranges help your team aim for the ideal holding temperature, not just the minimum standard

- The Save button remains inactive until the food name is entered and at least one compliant temperature value is added
- Once saved, the side sheet closes
- The food item appears in the Food Items table
- A toast message confirms: "Food item added to the list"
- The food item is automatically assigned a "Temperature" category
Cancel Food Creation
To exit without saving, you can:
